Doctor Manish Kumar arrested as Bihar BPSC paper leak arrests climb to 296
The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) arrested Dr Manish Kumar, an MBBS‑qualified doctor, on July 28, 2026 for allegedly participating in a paper‑leak syndicate targeting the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE‑3). Investigators say Kumar was in contact with the syndicate led by Sanjeev Mukhiya and helped transport 30 candidates to Hazaribag, Jharkhand, where they prepared using the stolen question paper.
With this arrest the total number of people detained in the TRE‑3 investigation rose to 296. The case, registered on March 16, 2024 under Economic Offences Police Station No. 06/2024, is being pursued under the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Bihar Conduct of Examination Act 1981. Kumar completed his MBBS at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital in Patna, served as a government doctor in Kaimur district, and had resigned to prepare for postgraduate medical entrance exams at the time of his arrest.
The EOU said the crackdown on exam‑paper leak networks will continue and further legal action will be taken against anyone found involved.
