Doctor released on bail after alleged harassment in Mirassol

A general practitioner suspected of sexually harassing a 21-year-old patient at the UBS Renascença health unit in Mirassol, Brazil, has been released on provisional liberty. Following a custody hearing in São José do Rio Preto, the judiciary set a bail of R$ 5,000 and imposed several precautionary measures.

The physician is prohibited from approaching the victim and from leaving the Mirassol judicial district without prior authorization. Additionally, his professional registration has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

The incident occurred after the victim reported being grabbed and forcibly kissed during a medical consultation. This was reportedly the second such incident involving the same professional. During the initial arrest, the suspect attempted to flee the health unit in a private vehicle but was intercepted by the Military Police.

The Mirassol Municipal Health Secretariat has opened an internal administrative inquiry to investigate the professional's conduct alongside the ongoing criminal investigation into crimes against sexual dignity.
