Doctor Who superfan builds full‑size Tardis replica in Lincolnshire garden

Brendan Sheppard, a 49‑year‑old Doctor Who enthusiast, spent more than £30,000 and two years constructing a 10 m × 5 m full‑size replica of the 1983 Tardis console room. The set, built with a team of craftsmen, is housed in a purpose‑built studio in his back garden at South Kyme, Lincolnshire, UK.

The replica was created with the assistance of prop maker Simon Nash, original designers and BBC production staff, and electronics specialist Darryl Harrison, who recreated the lights, controls and time rotor. Sheppard opened the venue to the public, offering a 20‑minute immersive experience for a £20 ticket. The attraction reached capacity for July and August shortly after launch, with bookings accepted for the following year.

Sheppard said the project was an emotional fulfillment of a childhood dream and that he could not keep the creation to himself, choosing instead to share it with fellow fans.
