Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia hits record ratings

The SBS medical noir drama ‘Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia’, starring Kim Ji-won, has achieved significant commercial success, reaching a nationwide viewership peak of 20.8% and ranking first in the non-English TV category on Netflix.

The series, a remake of a Japanese production, follows a genius surgeon navigating a corrupt hospital hierarchy. While the show has seen a steady rise in ratings from its 11.4% debut, it has also faced criticism regarding medical accuracy. Some viewers and medical professionals have raised concerns that certain surgical procedures and hospital protocols depicted in the drama do not align with real-world medical practices.

In response to the backlash, a medical consultant for the production noted that discrepancies may arise from creative decisions made during the production process. Despite the controversy, the drama continues to lead its time slot and maintain high engagement across domestic and international streaming platforms.
