Doctors in Poland and Slovakia face investigation for working under the influence
Police in Poland and Slovakia have launched investigations into doctors found to be working under the influence of alcohol following patient reports.
In Kołobrzeg, Poland, a 45-year-old female doctor was found to have a blood alcohol content of 1.3 per mille after a patient suspected she was intoxicated during a visit with her child. Authorities are investigating whether the physician arrived at work intoxicated or consumed alcohol while on duty, citing potential criminal charges for endangering life or health.
In Dolný Kubín, Slovakia, a 66-year-old doctor in private practice was detained after a breathalyzer test revealed a level of 1.31 per mille. The incident occurred following an anonymous tip. Local hospital officials clarified that the physician was not an employee of the Dolnooravská Hospital and operated a separate private practice located outside the hospital grounds.
