Giorgos Mazonakis death investigation: Propofol found in toxicology results
Investigations into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis have revealed new evidence. Preliminary toxicology results from the University of Thessaloniki indicate the presence of the anesthetic propofol in his system. This finding contradicts the defense of the 56-year-old doctor, Ioanna Gaka, who is currently in custody and denies administering any sedative.
Digital forensics of mobile phones belonging to those present at the clinic on September 9 have uncovered internet searches for a ‘propofol antidote’ and information regarding ‘mydriasis’. These findings align with testimonies from a nurse and an anesthesiologist, the latter of whom confirmed she was asked for an antidote during the singer's collapse.
Further evidence includes a hypnotist's testimony stating he mediated the singer's visit to the clinic. Additionally, histological examinations have identified an abnormality in Mazonakis's heart, which investigators are working to link to his recent medical treatments. Meanwhile, the medical community and colleagues have held tributes, including a special program on ‘The Voice of Greece’.
