Doctors remove 1 kg of metal objects from man's stomach in Yunnan

Doctors at Yunnan Third People's Hospital in China successfully performed surgery to remove over 1 kg of metal objects from a middle-aged man's stomach. The patient had been suffering from continuous abdominal pain and vomiting.

During the three-hour procedure, medical teams recovered 180 nails, coins, screws, nuts, magnets, and other metallic items. The presence of magnets caused the metal objects to clump together into a large mass, which abnormally distended the stomach and caused it to sag toward the bladder.

Dr. Li Wei reported that while the sharp objects caused significant ulceration and erosive damage to the stomach lining, the nails did not puncture the stomach wall or enter the intestines. The patient is reported to be recovering well and remains in stable condition.
