MSF condemns closure of Israeli investigations into fatal attacks in Gaza

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has condemned the decision by the Israeli Military Advocate General to close two investigations into fatal attacks against the organization’s personnel and facilities in Gaza without opening criminal proceedings.

The first case concerns multiple attacks on an MSF convoy in Gaza City in November 2023, which resulted in two deaths. The second involves a strike on an MSF shelter in Khan Younis in February 2024, which killed two people and injured six others.

MSF stated that the decision follows nearly two years of silence and a subsequent appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court after the military prosecutor failed to respond to formal requests. The organization criticized the lack of accountability, noting that the investigations were conducted by the military institution itself. MSF has called for the cases to be reopened and handled by an independent, neutral investigative body.

According to MSF, 15 of its staff members have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023.
