Doctors Without Borders leader releases book on global humanitarian crises

Former president of Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Joanne Liu, has released a new book titled ‘Ebola, Bombs, and Migrants’. The work provides an analysis of complex humanitarian crises encountered during her leadership.

The book is structured around three primary global crises: the West African Ebola epidemic of 2014-2016, the 2015 U.S. bombing of an MSF-operated hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, and the ongoing international refugee migration crisis, with specific focus on situations in Libya, Syria, and Central America. Liu utilizes statistical data and historical context to examine the political, economic, and social forces that impact humanitarian efforts and the treatment of displaced populations.
