New documentary works are exploring themes of displacement and the human impact of migration.

“Child of Empire” is a 17-minute animated virtual reality (VR) docu-drama that depicts the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan. Inspired by real-life accounts, the experience allows viewers to embody the perspective of a child during the migration, featuring interactive elements such as playing Holi and exploring a train carriage traveling from Lahore to Delhi.

“Concrete Land,” directed by Asmahan Bkerat, follows a Bedouin family of nomadic heritage living on the outskirts of Amman, Jordan. The film documents three generations of the household as they face marginalization, eviction, and the erosion of their traditional lifestyle due to urban development and regulatory shifts.
