Documentary film to feature priest Željko Volarić and wartime clergy
Filming has commenced on a new documentary film focused on the priests who supported Croatian defenders and their people during the Homeland War. The project, which began as a series of articles, aims to preserve the testimonies of clergy members who remained on the front lines to provide spiritual support, comfort, and prayer during the conflict.
A central figure in the film is Reverend Željko Volarić, who served on the Western Slavonia battlefield during the war. Currently serving as a parish priest in Buk near Pleternica and as a military chaplain in the Požega barracks, Volarić shares his wartime experiences with new generations of Croatian soldiers.
Production has taken place at several significant locations, including Buk, the Požega barracks, and Stara Gradiška, which was his wartime parish.
