Documentary films highlight marine conservation and animal welfare in Italy

Several documentary film screenings are scheduled in Italy to highlight marine conservation and the relationship between humans and animals.

In Grottammare, the documentary ‘Un mare molto piccolo’, produced by Fondazione Cetacea and Zeroscena, will be screened. Directed by Elisa La Boria and Luka Bagnoli, the film uses archival footage from the former Rimini Dolphinarium to examine the history of animal exploitation and the ethical evolution of human-animal interactions. The project aims to stimulate political and ethical reflection on the non-human world.

In the Maremma region, the film ‘House of fish’, directed by Santiago Burin Des Roziers, will be presented at the Granaio lorenese di Spergolaia. The documentary chronicles the efforts of ‘La Casa dei Pesci’ to protect the marine environment and promote fish restocking along the Talamone coast. The project highlights the long-term conservation work initiated by local fishermen and researchers to safeguard marine ecosystems.
