Documentary films highlight wartime history and environmental impacts

Two documentary films focusing on historical wartime events in the region were recently highlighted. In Prijedor, the Sreten Stojanović Gallery hosted the promotion of ‘Guernica 2’, a 34-minute documentary directed by Ognjen Petković. The film examines the long-term environmental and health consequences of the 1999 NATO bombing of chemical and industrial facilities in Pančevo, utilizing archival footage from Ljiljana Verner.

In Gradačac, a premiere for the documentary ‘Gradačačke vatrene oluje’ (Gradačac Firestorms) is scheduled for October 20, 2026. Directed by Avdo Huseinović, the film documents the defense of Gradačac during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, featuring testimonies regarding the heroism and resistance of the city's defenders. The event is supported by the City of Gradačac and the Ministry for Veterans' Issues of the Tuzla Canton.
