Documentary “Llamarse Olimpia” addresses digital violence in Mexico
The documentary “Llamarse Olimpia”, nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 68th Ariel Awards, was screened in Izúcar de Matamoros and Huauchinango to address digital violence. Directed by Indira Cato Cortés, the film tells the story of Olimpia Coral Melo, who advocated for the “Ley Olimpia” reforms after facing the non-consensual distribution of an intimate video.
The screenings, organized by the Secretaría de las Mujeres, aimed to promote awareness regarding digital rights, consent, and legal protections. Olimpia Coral Melo participated in discussions with attendees to provide tools for identifying and reporting digital aggression.
