Documentary Marcos: Otro mundo es posible explores Zapatista movement

Director Diego Enrique Osorno presented the documentary ‘Marcos: Otro mundo es posible’ at the Morelia International Film Festival and DocsMX. The film examines the legacy of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) and the figure of Subcomandante Marcos, who became a global symbol of indigenous rebellion during the 1994 uprising.

Based on an analysis of approximately 3,000 archives, the documentary traces the Zapatista struggle from 1994 to the present day in the mountains of Chiapas. Osorno described the film as a story ‘against resignation’ that focuses on the capacity of individuals to initiate dialogue.

In connection to the film's themes, it was announced that in December, a delegation of more than 1,500 Zapatistas will travel from the Lacandon Jungle to Mexico City and other parts of the country. This mobilization, titled ‘Encuentro-Abrazo’, aims to meet with ‘madres buscadoras’ (searching mothers) and families of the disappeared to offer solidarity and support.
