Documentary ‘O Canto da Floresta’ joins French Film Festival in Brazil
The award-winning documentary ‘O Canto da Floresta’ (Le chant des forêts), directed by wildlife photographer Vincent Munier, will be part of the 17th French Film Festival in Brazil. The film is scheduled to be screened in cinemas across the country from October 29 to November 11.
Having attracted over 1.3 million viewers in France, the documentary won two César Awards for Best Documentary and Best Sound, as well as the Prix Lumières for Best Music. The film follows three generations of Munier’s family—the director, his father Michel, and his son Simon—as they immerse themselves in the forests of the Vosges region in France.
Unlike Munier’s previous work, ‘A Pantera das Neves’, which focused on the Tibetan Plateau, this project is a more personal journey through the environment where his passion for nature photography began. The production was developed over approximately ten years, focusing on the observation of deer, foxes, rare birds, and lynxes through an immersive lens.
