Documentary screenings scheduled in Olsztyn and Oświęcim
Several documentary film screenings and discussions are scheduled to take place in Poland in late October 2026.
In Olsztyn, a screening of “Gdzie jest ten gwar”, directed by Wojciech Ogrodziński, will be held on October 28 at the Usługa Jazz Bar. The film explores the history of the Dom Środowisk Twórczych, a cultural hub for artists, writers, and musicians that operated from 1965 until the early 1990s. The documentary examines both the creative atmosphere of the club and the darker aspects of surveillance and informants during that era.
In Oświęcim, the Center for the History and Culture of Roma will host a screening of “That Boy: A Conversation about Hate and Healing” on October 29 at the Museum of the Memory of the Inhabitants of the Oświęcim Land. The film features a dialogue between Toby Górniak MBE, a Roma refugee, and Mirek, a former neo-Nazi, regarding racism, radicalization, and reconciliation. The event will include a panel discussion on combating hate speech and extremist violence.
