Documentary ‘The Silent Front’ honors military environmental soldiers
The documentary film ‘Mặt trận không tiếng súng’ (The Silent Front), produced by People's Army Cinema, highlights the work of soldiers within the military's chemistry and environment sector. The film commemorates the upcoming 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Military Chemistry and Environment (1976–2026) and its recognition as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
The documentary portrays the specialized and often invisible dangers faced by these soldiers, including pollution assessment, chemical incident response, environmental safety during disease outbreaks, and the remediation of post-war toxic substances such as dioxin.
Scriptwriter Major Bach Hoang Dat noted that the film aims to move beyond technical descriptions of machinery to focus on the human element, showing how scientific knowledge and military discipline are applied to real-world environmental threats. Director Major Nguyen Quang Quyet emphasized the dedication required to capture the quiet but essential duties performed by these personnel.
