Docusign accelerates transition to AI-driven contract management platform

Docusign is transitioning from an electronic signature provider to an intelligent agreement management platform. During a business strategy briefing held by Docusign Japan, President Hiroki Yoshida outlined the company’s “second phase,” which focuses on utilizing contract data to eliminate process silos and tool fragmentation.

The company is leveraging its proprietary AI engine, “Docusign Iris,” to power its Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform. This platform has already been adopted by over 40,000 companies globally. To enhance this ecosystem, Docusign announced three new AI-driven features:

1. Docusign AI-Assisted Review: A chat-based assistant that detects risks in contracts and suggests revisions based on predefined playbooks. 2. Docusign Agents: An automated workflow feature that executes contract steps, such as verifying conditions and requesting approvals, based on set rules. 3. Docusign MCP Server: A tool designed to connect contract information with a user’s everyday AI tools to streamline information retrieval.

Docusign AI-Assisted Review is currently in pilot testing with several Japanese companies and is expected to be available for general use in Japan within 2026. Docusign Agents is scheduled for general release in the Japanese market by March 2027.
