Dodecanese Radiotherapy Center project moves forward in Rhodes

The South Aegean Regional Committee has approved the first minutes of an international tender and selected a provisional contractor for the construction and equipment of the Dodecanese Radiotherapy Center. The project involves building a new wing at the Rhodes General Hospital.

This infrastructure aims to provide local access to modern radiotherapy services for oncology patients in the Dodecanese, reducing the need for residents to travel away from the islands for treatment. The project is funded by the South Aegean Region's Public Investment Program, with potential funding from the European Investment Bank via the Just Transition Mechanism.

Nikos Lymperopoulos, head of the Regional General Directorate of Infrastructure, noted that the project is highly complex due to the specialized technical requirements and the need to coordinate construction with the installation of advanced medical technology.
