Dodge Charger launches with electric Daytona and Hurricane engine options

Dodge is launching the eighth generation of the Charger, utilizing the STLA Large platform to offer both electric and internal combustion options. This new lineup marks a significant shift as the brand retires the traditional HEMI V8 engine in favor of two distinct powertrain paths.

The electric Daytona models feature a 100.5 kWh battery and dual-motor configurations. The top-tier Scat Pack variant can produce up to 670 horsepower, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration in 3.3 seconds. These models include the ‘Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust’ to simulate engine sounds.

The internal combustion versions, branded as SIXPACK, utilize a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six engine. The R/T trim delivers 420 hp, while the Scat Pack High Output version reaches 550 hp. These new engines are reported to offer higher performance and torque than the previous V8 models they replace.

Dodge is also expanding its reach by bringing the Charger to the European market through official importers, with pricing expected to start around 66,000 euros for certain models.
