Stellantis begins road testing solid‑state batteries on Dodge Charger Daytona

Stellantis and battery startup Factorial have integrated Factorial’s FEST (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology) solid‑state cells into an experimental Dodge Charger Daytona. The vehicle marks the first North‑American integration of this technology and a new mechanically‑patented battery architecture designed by Stellantis.

The road‑test programme aims to evaluate the batteries’ performance, safety and reliability under real‑world driving and charging conditions. According to Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic, the tests demonstrate progress toward higher autonomy, rapid 18‑minute charging from 15 % to 90 %, and lower costs. Factorial CEO Siyu Huang highlighted the deep collaboration needed to bring solid‑state technology to automotive applications. The cells deliver an energy density of 375 Wh/kg, operate between –30 °C and +45 °C, and are compatible with existing lithium‑ion production processes.

Stellantis plans to use the test results to refine the battery pack design and assess suitability for future electric‑vehicle models.
