Dodgers and Red Sox launch quiet sponsorship deals with Kalshi
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox have quietly implemented sponsorship deals with Kalshi, a prediction market operator. The rollouts have been understated to avoid the social media backlash recently experienced by the New York Mets following their partnership with the prediction market app Novig.
In Los Angeles, Kalshi branding has appeared on digital outfield signage and as decals behind home plate. In Boston, the team has utilized Kalshi logos in social media graphics and marketing emails.
The Dodgers' partnership creates a potential conflict with their long-term casino partner, Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, which is owned by the San Manuel Nation. The tribe has actively campaigned against prediction markets in California, arguing that such products infringe upon tribal sovereignty and exclusive gaming rights. San Manuel contends that these markets function as unregulated gambling presented as financial contracts. This tension follows the tribe's significant expenditure to oppose commercial online sports betting initiatives in the state.
