Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing was diagnosed with a partially torn right ulnar collateral ligament, a slight UCL tear in his throwing arm. Manager Dave Roberts said Rushing will keep hitting during his rehabilitation but will not throw for four to six weeks.

The injury comes as the Dodgers have already been without starting catcher Will Smith, who has missed action since early June with a neck injury and is expected to be out until at least late August. To cover the position, the team acquired catchers Hunter Feduccia from the Tampa Bay Rays and Ben Rortvedt from the New York Mets on the day before the trade deadline.

Rortvedt made his first major‑league start behind the plate on Tuesday, going 0‑for‑2 in a 5‑1 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Rushing, 25, is batting .253 with a .335 on‑base percentage, .475 slugging, 12 home runs and 36 RBIs in 74 games this season.
