Dodgers defeat Braves as Acuña Jr. sits out for mental rest
The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers faced off at Truist Park in a high-stakes matchup that saw the Dodgers secure a 5-3 victory. The game featured a notable reunion between former Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman and his successor, Matt Olson. Freeman, now with the Dodgers, received a nostalgic reception from the Atlanta crowd during the contest.
In addition to the competitive results, the Braves opted to rest star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. during the final game of the series. Manager Walt Weiss described the move as a “mental rest day” to help the Venezuelan player recover his offensive form following a hamstring injury. Acuña has struggled with consistency since returning to action in late July, posting a .188 batting average in his recent appearances.
