Dodgers' Schedule Shift Makes Shohei Ohtani Unlikely to Pitch in 2026 MLB All-Star Game

Los Angeles Dodgers moved Shohei Ohtani’s start from Wednesday to Friday to give him extra rest during a 13‑game stretch. The change leaves only three days of rest before the All‑Star Game on July 14, leading manager Dave Roberts to say it would be “hard to imagine” Ohtani pitching, though a final decision has not been made. Ohtani will still appear as the National League’s designated hitter after leading fan voting with more than 3.3 million votes.

Roberts, who will manage the NL All‑Stars in Philadelphia, noted Ohtani’s recent left‑knee soreness and a blister on his right‑hand finger, but said the player feels good. Ohtani is scheduled for one more start on July 10 against the Arizona Diamondbacks before the showcase, after which his arm would have just three days of rest.
