Dodoni in Ioannina to Host 8th Summer Oracle Festival This August

The Municipal Cultural Centre of Ioannina, in partnership with the International Network of Ancient Drama of the Greek Ministry of Culture, will stage the 8th Summer Oracle and the 2nd Small Oracle from 28 August to 6 September 2026. The event takes place at the archaeological site of Dodoni and additional venues in Ioannina, including the historic theatre, the Pyrsinella manor and the Cambereio theatre.

The program centres on Euripides’ tragedy “Iphigenia in Tauris” and offers workshops in acting, translation, dramaturgy, movement and voice led by figures such as director Savvas Stroumpo, translator Panagiotis Mpakalas, theatre scholar Ioanna Remedaki, choreographer Vitoria Kotsalo, actor Giorgos Frintzelas and voice coach Reni Kyriaki. Twenty adult participants and twenty children will be selected; applications for adults close on 2 August. A performance by the Zero Company is scheduled for 2 September at the ancient theatre, followed by public presentations of workshop outcomes on 5 September.
