On Thursday, a 7‑year‑old boy was attacked by a dog in Praça Dudu Samba, Mongaguá, São Paulo. He suffered injuries to his right leg, received sutures and a tetanus vaccination at the Hospital and Maternity Municipal, and was released with instructions for home care. Municipal health and zoonosis teams seized the animal, vaccinated it, implanted a microchip and placed it under a ten‑day clinical observation period.
In a separate incident in Curitiba’s Praça Rui Barbosa, a dog belonging to a man experiencing homelessness intervened in a street fight, biting one of the men involved. Video footage shows the dog repeatedly attacking the aggressor while its owner tried to protect him. Police were alerted, and the participants have not yet been identified.
