Dog Bella Saves 6‑Year‑Old Boy From Bear Attack in Connecticut
On July 4, 2024, a black bear entered the driveway of a home in Torrington, Connecticut, and charged toward 6‑year‑old Colton Tazara. Security‑camera footage captured the family’s husky‑mix dog, Bella, lunging at the bear, biting its tail and driving it away before the child could be harmed. Colton’s father, Jeffrey Tazara, said Bella’s bark was “ferocious, nothing like her usual sounds.”
The incident received widespread online attention, and on July 17 local officials honored Bella. State Senator Stephen Harding posted on Facebook praising the dog’s “incredible bravery” and presented her with a legislative citation and a celebratory steak. Bella emerged unharmed, and the boy was safe.
The video of the encounter was shared by multiple news outlets, highlighting the protective bond between pets and their families.
