Dog breed preferences and social needs analyzed in new study
A study conducted by Agila Haustierversicherung in cooperation with Statista reveals trends in dog breed preferences, noting that younger owners tend to place higher value on specific breeds. Mixed breeds remain the most popular choice at 28 percent, followed by Labrador and Golden Retrievers at 11 percent each. Other notable breeds include Chihuahuas, Dachshunds, and Australian Shepherds.
Regarding canine social needs, experts suggest that adding a second dog does not automatically increase a pet's happiness. Whether a dog benefits from a companion depends on individual personality, age, and socialization. While some dogs are social, others may experience stress or competition when a new animal is introduced to their territory. Experts warn that a second pet also brings increased responsibilities and costs for the owner.
