Dog escapes leash and runs into Central Wan Chai Bypass tunnel

A two-year-old white pet dog escaped its leash during a walk near the North Point harbourfront on the afternoon of August 27. The animal ran into the Eastern Corridor and eventually entered the Central Wan Chai Bypass tunnel.

The incident occurred during evening rush hour, causing motorists to slow down or make abrupt stops to avoid the animal. Police, tunnel management staff, and personnel from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) coordinated a response to secure the dog within the tunnel.

Upon rescue, the dog was found to have a bleeding injury on its right foreleg. SPCA staff transported the animal to their center for veterinary care. Authorities have since contacted the owner to manage the dog's recovery.
