Dog Hiena rescued after severe boiling‑water attack in Veracruz, Mexico

A dog named Hiena was found on a midnight rescue in the Lomas del Vergel neighbourhood of Veracruz after being violently attacked with boiling water. The animal suffered burns on roughly 80% of its body, covering the neck, chest, back and hind legs in an S‑shaped pattern.

Animal‑protection activist Mariano Molina confirmed that Hiena was taken to the local Animal Health facility for intensive treatment, with municipal authorities and the State Health Directorate providing basic medical supplies. An investigation has been opened by Veracruz city officials and the public prosecutor, and Molina urged officials not to drop the charges, calling for accountability for the cruelty.

Support from the community is being sought to obtain specialized equipment and medication needed for Hiena’s rehabilitation and eventual adoption.
