Nordjyllands Police find few faults in student vehicle checks as Danish agencies warn of summer home and pet hazards

Nordjyllands Police inspected 17 student vehicles across Aalborg, Hjørring, Frederikshavn and other towns in North Jutland, finding only minor violations such as an un‑checked fire extinguisher on a truck, a missing tachograph inspection and an expired driver’s licence. The overall assessment was that the vehicles were in good technical condition and drivers complied with regulations.

Insurance firm If reported a 40 % increase in burglaries among its Danish customers from June to July and a 9 % rise in reported residential break‑ins in 2025. The company advises citizens to postpone posting vacation photos until they return, use neighbour watch schemes, install sensor lights and secure locks.

A study by Gjensidige and TEKNIQ showed that 82 % of Danes forget to shut off the main water valve before holidays, risking burst pipes and costly water damage. Recommendations include turning off the main tap, installing automatic water‑stop valves and water‑usage alarms.

Agria Dyreforsikring warned of several summer dangers for dogs, including heatstroke, snake bites, ticks, blue‑green algae poisoning, injuries from food scraps and insect stings. Owners are urged to keep dogs out of hot cars, watch for wildlife, use tick protection and avoid hazardous objects.

IKEA promoted a series of family‑friendly summer activities at its Copenhagen, Taastrup and Gentofte stores, featuring treasure hunts, colour‑themed photo contests, games and children’s workshops.
