Dog Training Events in Bochum and Rodenbach, Germany

On 29 August 2026 the Landestierschutzbeauftragte Dr. Gerlinde von Dehn, together with the Deutscher Tierschutzbund and the city of Dortmund, hosted a free voluntary dog‑handling certification in Bochum, North‑Rhine Westphalia. The two‑hour programme covered practical skills such as muzzle fitting, basic obedience, and shelter‑work experience, concluding with a certificate ceremony.

Starting 22 August 2026, the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde SV OG Rodenbach will run a series of dog‑training courses for owners of all breeds. The basic course includes ten hours of instruction on leash control, obedience, and safe social behaviour, while advanced sessions build on these skills under more challenging conditions. Participants must provide proof of rabies vaccination and liability insurance. Course coordinator Wolfgang Philipp will oversee the sessions, which begin with an information meeting on 18 August.

Both initiatives aim to improve responsible dog ownership, reduce dangerous incidents, and promote harmonious coexistence between dogs, owners, and the public.
