Dogs survive high falls in Ontario and North Carolina
A dog named Willow survived a 60‑foot drop at the Elora Gorge Conservation Area near Kitchener, Ontario, after a rescue operation involving the Centre Wellington Fire Department and ground‑search volunteers located her with infrared equipment and retrieved her by raft.
In western North Carolina, a separate dog fell into an abandoned mine shaft in Yancey County and was rescued with minor injuries by the sheriff’s office, county emergency management, a volunteer fire department and a technical rescue team from Mitchell County.
