Doherty Enterprises named Applebee’s 2026 Franchisee of the Year

Doherty Enterprises, a family-owned operator of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar restaurants, has received the 2026 Abe Gustin Franchisee of the Year award. This is the highest honor within the Applebee’s franchise system.

The award, presented at a franchise conference in Austin, Texas, recognizes the company for its business performance, operational excellence, leadership, and community involvement. Doherty Enterprises operates locations throughout New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island.

In the past year, the company contributed nearly $5.7 million through 310 charitable events and partnerships with organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and Toys for Tots. Additionally, its WOW a Friend Foundation provided financial assistance to 153 employees and their families facing hardship.
