Dokkum drug lab sentencing: Two men jailed for producing MDMA precursor

Two men have been sentenced by the North Netherlands court following the discovery of a drug laboratory in a former restaurant in Dokkum. The facility, located in a vacant building on Hantumerweg, was identified after municipal enforcement officers observed an individual entering the premises.

Investigations by the National Dismantling Facility (LFO) revealed that the lab was not producing finished ecstasy, but was instead manufacturing PMK (piperonylmethylketon), a critical precursor used to create MDMA. Police estimated that the raw materials found on-site were sufficient to produce enough PMK to eventually manufacture approximately 360,000 ecstasy pills.

The laboratory was fully equipped with specialized tools, including mixing installations, gas burners, measuring cups, and various chemicals such as caustic soda and phosphoric acid. A 24-year-old man from Dokkum received a twenty-month prison sentence, while a 36-year-old man from Hoogezand was sentenced to thirty months in prison.
