Dolars Aleksanders Charged in UK After Latvia Extradition Over 12-Year-Old's Death
Dolars Aleksanders, 23, was extradited from Latvia to the United Kingdom after being detained last month. He is charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the fatal hit‑and‑run that killed 12‑year‑old schoolboy Keaton Slater on Radford Road in Coventry in June 2024.
The extradition was coordinated by West Midlands Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, the National Crime Agency and Latvian authorities, with assistance from Europol and the Joint International Crime Centre. Aleksanders arrived at Gatwick Airport on 5 August, was transferred to custody in the West Midlands and was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 6 August. Police said the victim’s parents are being supported by specially trained officers.
