Dolby introduces Dolby Vision 2 HDR technology
Dolby has introduced Dolby Vision 2, the next generation of its High Dynamic Range (HDR) format. Presented in 2025, the technology is expected to appear in the first smart TVs starting in August 2026.
Dolby Vision 2 utilizes a redesigned image engine and content-based metadata adjustments to improve visual output. It also includes features that adapt to specific viewing conditions and screen environments. While maintaining the foundation of dynamic metadata used in previous versions, this new iteration adds enhanced processing tools for better adaptation.
Hisense has been identified as the first manufacturer to begin updating selected models with this technology. Other major manufacturers, including TCL and Philips, are planning to support the format within their 2026 product lines.
