Dolby Laboratories expands technology use to professional sports and automotive sectors
Dolby Laboratories is expanding its technology integration beyond traditional home cinema into new sectors. The Seattle Seahawks have become the first professional sports team to utilize a combination of Dolby OptiView and Dolby Vision to stream live content via their mobile app and website.
In the automotive sector, Google is supporting Dolby Atmos through Android Auto, enabling immersive audio for drivers of brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, and Genesis. Additionally, Meta Platforms has joined the Video Distribution Program as a licensee, and Hisense has begun a rollout of Dolby Vision 2 on selected televisions.
Financially, Dolby has raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to a range between $4.25 and $4.40. Recent quarterly results for the period ending June 30 reported revenue of $305 million, compared to $316 million in the previous year, with GAAP net income at $29 million.
