Hisense leads rollout of Dolby Vision 2 HDR technology

Dolby Laboratories and Hisense have announced the global rollout of Dolby Vision 2, a next-generation dynamic HDR technology. Hisense is the first television manufacturer to implement the standard, delivering it via firmware updates to select 2026 models, including the UX, UR9, UR8, and U7 (U7 Pro in certain regions) series. The technology is available in two tiers: a standard version and a high-end 'Dolomy Vision 2 Max' version.

Key technical innovations include 'Content Intelligence,' which utilizes embedded metadata to automatically optimize brightness, contrast, and color scene-by-scene according to the content type and viewing environment. The 'Max' tier introduces 'Authentic Motion' to reduce motion blur without the 'soap opera effect,' 'Light Sense 2' to adjust for ambient lighting, and 'Pro Settings' for detailed calibration.

The new standard is designed to work with both new and existing Dolby Vision content, though fully utilizing the new features requires specific hardware, such as the MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip. Major streaming services including Canal+, Peacock, and iQIYI have committed to supporting the expanded capabilities of Dolby Vision 2.
