Dolina Água Milagrosa in Cáceres, Mato Grosso draws visitors with deep crater lake

The Dolina Água Milagrosa is a geological formation near Cáceres in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso. Formed by the slow collapse of limestone over millennia, the crater features walls up to 200 metres high and a central lagoon about 50 metres wide. Divers have measured depths exceeding 180 metres without reaching the bottom, and a 1998 survey recorded a depth of 220 metres, still inconclusive.

Located on the banks of the Rio Paraguai, the site serves as a gateway to the Pantanal region. Visitors travel from Cuiabá, often stopping in the historic town of Cáceres before trekking the final unpaved stretch of road to the dolina. Safety measures such as life‑vests are mandatory for those entering the water.
