Dolj County implements new school program rules and food contracts
Authorities in Dolj County, Romania, have implemented new regulations and contracts regarding school operations and nutrition for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Dolj County School Inspectorate has established procedures for the “Școala Altfel” program. Participation is mandatory for both students and teachers, with absences recorded under conduct in school catalogs. To prevent financial misconduct, the inspectorate strictly prohibits teachers and students from collecting funds from parents; any involvement in fundraising or managing parent association funds constitutes a disciplinary offense. Additionally, school trips involving costs are not permitted unless external funding sources are identified.
Simultaneously, the Dolj County Council has finalized new subsidized contracts for school food supplies, including dairy, apples, and bakery products, following delays at the start of the school year. The contracts, valued at approximately 959,088 lei for dairy, 325,728 lei for apples, and 615,264 lei for bakery items, have been awarded to suppliers Simultan, Matra, and Isis-Pan. The agreements include quality requirements and provisions for products adapted to children with food intolerances upon parental request.
