Dolly Parton International Airport proposal moves forward in Nashville

A proposal is moving forward to rename Nashville’s airport, currently identified by the code BNA, to Dolly Parton International Airport. The initiative has gained support from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Metro Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA), with a planning meeting scheduled for September 17.

In response to the movement, Dolly Parton expressed humility, noting, “I’m very flattered,” while suggesting the idea might be a joke. The proposal carries a sense of irony, as Parton has famously expressed a dislike for flying, often preferring to travel via her tour bus rather than owning a private jet.

Parton has occasionally flown for professional needs, such as traveling to Europe or making surprise appearances at festivals, but she has primarily relied on her customized tour bus for long-distance travel.
