Dolly Parton leaves secret song in time capsule to be opened in 2046

Following the death of country music legend Dolly Parton at age 80, details have emerged regarding a secret song she left for the future. The unreleased track, titled ‘My Place in History’, was recorded in 2015 and placed inside a time capsule known as the ‘Dream Box’ at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa in Tennessee.

The capsule, a chestnut wood box, is scheduled to be opened on January 19, 2046, to coincide with the centennial of Parton’s birth. The song is stored in both cassette and CD formats. The capsule also contains a copy of her 2012 book, ‘Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You’, and a piece of wood from the porch of her childhood home.

Parton’s passing follows a brief battle with cancer and recent hospitalizations in Nashville for renal and autoimmune issues. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her death via Instagram, fulfilling a request made by the singer herself.
