Dolly Parton passes away in Nashville at age 80

Country music icon Dolly Parton passed away in Nashville on August 25 at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Her sister, Stella Parton, revealed that the singer chose to keep her diagnosis private from much of her extended family and her fans because she did not want to cause sadness or worry. Even in her final days, Parton reportedly expressed a willingness to undergo experimental medical treatments to aid future cancer research, even if they offered no hope for her own recovery.

To honor her legacy, the SongTeller Hotel and the Life of Many Colors Museum are scheduled to open in downtown Nashville on September 29. The museum will feature interactive exhibits and personal items from her collection, while the hotel will include live music venues such as Jolene’s and Parton’s Live. Additionally, her first posthumous musical release, a rendition of ‘Bound to Ride,’ is expected to be released as part of a tribute album.

Parton's career was marked by significant philanthropic work, including the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library, which has donated over 300 million books worldwide. She was also recognized for her broad political appeal and her support for various social causes.
