Dolly Parton posthumous song ‘Bound to Ride’ released
Following the death of country music icon Dolly Parton at age 80, her first posthumous song, ‘Bound to Ride’, has been released. The track was recorded in 2022 in her private studio during a COVID-19 surge to avoid travel risks.
The song is a cover of a traditional track popularized by The Stanley Brothers in 1964. It features instrumental backing by the First Ladies of Bluegrass and will appear on the tribute album ‘Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of The Stanley Brothers’, scheduled for release on October 16. Producers Garry West and Alison Brown noted that Parton’s performance “really did over-deliver.”
In recent interviews, Parton’s sister Stella shared insights into the singer’s final days, noting that while Parton was “very sad” following the death of her husband Carl Dean, she remained deeply passionate about her work until the end. Parton passed away on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer.
Additionally, a tribute to Parton was held during the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring performances of her hits like ‘9 to 5’ and ‘Jolene’ by artists including Sheridan Smith, Ward Thomas, and Beverley Knight.
