Dolly Parton honored with airport renaming and star restoration after death

Following the death of legendary singer Dolly Parton on August 25, 2026, at age 80, tributes and honors are being organized across the United States. Parton passed away at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville after a brief, private battle with cancer that her family had kept secret to maintain an atmosphere of optimism for her loved ones and fans.

In Los Angeles, her Hollywood Walk of Fame star was recently restored and decorated with butterfly and flower tributes after being vandalized shortly after her passing. In Tennessee, Governor Bill Lee and the Nashville International Airport authority have announced plans to rename the airport in her honor, a move supported by a massive public petition and the Nashville Metropolitan Council.

To celebrate her life and musical legacy, her estate has announced “DollyFest: The Celebration of a Lifetime,” with major public events scheduled to take place in Nashville and London in 2027. Her passing has also led to a significant surge in music streaming numbers.
