Dolly Parton estate faces legal dispute with nephew over alleged threats
Following the death of country music icon Dolly Parton on August 25, 2026, at age 80, her estate has become the center of a legal dispute. She's Alive LLC, a company established to protect Parton’s professional interests and managed by Danny Nozell, has obtained a temporary restraining order against Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver.
Seaver, who previously served as Parton’s head of security, was dismissed from his role following allegations of intimidation and threats. Court filings claim Seaver made threatening comments regarding his military background and access to weapons to demand financial compensation from the estate. Seaver has denied all allegations, stating that private messages were taken out of context. While some family members, including Parton’s sisters Freida and Stella, have publicly supported Seaver, the legal battle continues to impact the management of her legacy.
Amidst the legal proceedings, Parton’s Life of Many Colors Museum has opened in Nashville at the SongTeller Hotel. The museum features a prerecorded video message from the late singer welcoming fans, alongside displays of her costumes and musical achievements. Additionally, Parton’s final professional projects, including a commercial for her Cup of Ambition coffee line, have surfaced posthumously.
