The bald eagles residing at Dollywood's Eagle Mountain Sanctuary for 35 years have been permanently relocated. The decision follows a storm in April that damaged the sanctuary and caused three eagles to escape.

Dollywood and the American Eagle Foundation have agreed that the birds will not return to the theme park. Instead, they will reside permanently at the American Eagle Foundation's 50-acre educational and conservation campus located in Kodak, Tennessee, approximately 15 miles from Dollywood.

The partnership between the theme park and the foundation began in 1991, originally featuring Dolly Parton, Al Cecere, and Bob Hope at the sanctuary's grand opening.
